Purpose
- In light of our values of proactive integrity, alliance mentality, and mission accountability, we want to be transparent with funders and the general public about our exact funding needs, and to only accept funding we think GWWC is best placed to spend.
Definitions
- GWWC’s “runway” here is defined as the time GWWC would have before our current financial operations reserves would run out assuming (1) a best guess budget for the coming few years (i.e. extrapolating from our confirmed annual budget, while accounting for planned or otherwise expected increases/decreases in resources needed) and (2) that we would receive no further operations income (i.e. this doesn’t account for expected income that hasn’t been received yet).
Policy
- If GWWC has more than 2 years runway for a period of at least a month, it will regrant the excess amount that brings its runway above 2 years to a program in line with its mission, as recommended by the research team and approved by the CEO. In alignment with the Oversight & Authority policy, if this amount is more than 50,000 USD, board approval is also required.
- Example programs for consideration would be any of GWWC’s recommended supported programs, its cause area funds, and organisations with a similar purpose as GWWC (i.e. those fundraising for high-impact programs) who — as determined by the research team — would be better able to use the funds.
